There seems to be multiple og:description tags and some of them are taking precedent over the custom ones I want to display.

I identified my problem stems from the tags in layers’ footer area of the main html.

Managed to find an answer and am posting it here for anyone else having the same unlikely problem.

The fix is to disable Layers’ own Open Graph tags if you have another plugin generating them to avoid conflictions

You do that by going in appearance>customize>site settings>additional scripts and disabling open graph.

It now works without any trouble. Thanks.

The meta description tag in HTML is a 160-character excerpt used to summarize the content of a web page. Search engines sometimes use these snippets in search results to help viewers know the overview of the page before they click on it.
