How to Redirect Post Category Links to Layers Pages
The Redirection plugin is an incredibly useful free tool for any WordPress site and allows you to take any existing url on your site and make it automatically load a different page.
Redirection is helpful when you want to build custom pages for your post categories using the Layers template. For an example of custom post pages, see How to Create a Blog Page.
Redirects can also be used anytime you need to change the title and slug of a post, but want any links to the old url to still work. This is really important for sites with a lot of information, popular blogs or anyone who cares about SEO.
To install Redirection, go to→ , search for Redirection and click Install.
Once Activated, you can find the interface under→ .
The following screenshot shows how you can take a category url and direct it to a page url. Note that Redirection works best when you use just the slug and not the full URL – this ensures your redirects still work if your site is moved to a different domain. For example, http://www.layerswp.com/category/blog/ would be just /category/blog/ . Don’t forget the slash at the beginning and the end!! Don’t worry, if you paste the full URLs here, Redirection will convert them to slugs automatically.
